What would you do in 10 or 20 more years to deal with the global “GLOBALISATION”? (by: Imelda.K XIIA6-18)

Globalization consists of two world global and lization. Global which mean world and lization which mean process, so globalization can be interpreted as a global process. The general meaning of globalization is actually a whole or global process where everyone is not bound by the state or territorial boundaries. Globalization can make a country smaller because of the ease of communication between countries in various fields such as information exchange and trade.

Globalization greatly influences Indonesia from various aspects such as technology, trade, builders, and others so Indonesian people can avoid globalization. Seen from political globalization, government is run openly and democratically. From economic globalization is the opening of international market, which increasing employment opportunities and increasing the country’s foreign exchange. In socio-cultural globalization, we can imitate highly developed perspectives, hard work, discipline, and technology.

Besides positive impact, Indonesia is also negatively affected by globalization such as, solidarity, mutual cooperation which is reduced, creativity decrease because individuals are mostly consumptive. The culture or customs of the nation will be eroded, it because the people are more happy to follow foreign culture which they think are more cool and modern than their own culture which they think are ancient and not interesting at all. Globalization can lead to the entry of culture or mixing foreign cultures with Indonesian culture. If Indonesian people are not ready to accept the changes of globalization, Indonesia will tend to lead to the waning of cultural values. One of them is abuse of internet which can give negative impact, like watch porn sites that can be accessed by everyone. This is the beginning of a cultural shift.

Therefore the Indonesian people must be smart to filter out foreign country sech as, love to use domestic product is an attitude that can be developed to avoid excessive Western-style lifestyle, to deal with globalization and cultural diversity, everyone must be able to filter foreign culture according to local culture. With abundant natural and human resources, our country should be a country that is able to fulfill all of its needs independently. Of course, with the quality of human resources that are able to process the natural resources that we have, no longer depend on foreign parties.

We as the nation's successors must have sufficient ability to help Indonesia compete with other countries. We must have a high level of knowledge and level of education because it cannot be denied that the higher the level of education the more mature mindset that they have. Study overseas, especially go to the developed countries can also be the one way that we can see their mindset, their habits, the way they manage and respect time so that they are productive, creative and can be said that they have an orderly lifestyle. And with study overseas too we can learn many culture in the world, introduce our culture to other country and many more.

Study overseas can also expand our network so we can exchange information, innovation, and idea. Slowly our mindset can also change because we are trained to think critically and logically even when we faced with problems, we are usually  being demanded to think critically and logically in dealing with them. To deal with globalization, we are also required to learn other languages ​​beside our language because globalization requires us to interact and communicate with people from other countries. And if we can master some foreign languages, ​​our value in the eyes of the world will also be good and it also makes easier for us to exchange ideas to advancing Indonesia.

Realizing that in the future there will be many challenges that must be faced, especially for Indonesia due to globalization, so the main thing I have to do is equip myself with sufficient knowledge and so careful in planning my future that can be affect or can affect the quality of Indonesian society. I also plan to learn nutrition because I think that Indonesia have a lot of resources and population which should be a developed country. Many Indonesian people do not realized if Indonesia has been affected by globalization, the cause beside of lack  knowledge is a nutritional problem. Indonesian people always look down on nutritional problems whereas nutrition is very influential on the progress of a nation, if our nutrition is sufficiently fulfilled, our bodies will be healthy so we are able to think logically and critically. Nutrition is a problem that must be highlighted because an idea, innovation, and thought that can change the Indonesia comes from a healthy body and soul.

The second way that I have to do is change my mindset and the way I look at a problem and also improve my lifestyle, not only consumptive but also creative, not only judging but also think about it. We also have to be very selective in choosing foreign culture because foreign culture can improve the quality of human life but can also damage human life. Similarly for the technology, we must be wise in using technology and information dissemination, we must also analyze every information we receive is not only spread it.
