“What would you do in 10 or 20 more years to deal with the global “GLOBALISATION”?” by Jessica Nathania Alvin XIIA6 / 19

Someday when I grow up, I want to become an animator. I always dreamed of being an animator since I was on junior high school. I want to make cartoon that similar with Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol, My Little Pony, Sofia the First, or Dora the Explorer. One of my dreams is to make cartoon that can make the children feel happy when they watch the cartoons that I made.
In 10 or 20 years later maybe there is no such things as magazine, comic, newspaper, novel, textbook, or even paper no more exist. People only get all the information only though television, handphone, tablet, computer, laptop, or even watch that have functions similar to handphone. They are only need to browse through the internet to find what they need. There is no more bookstores and libraries on the side of the streets and inside of the malls anymore. All the schools won’t use whiteboard for learning anymore. They will use LCD (stands for liquid crystal display) or even high technology like 3-dimentional desktop display as a learning medium.
Many children will only watch cartoons that have no other purposes at all beside for entertain them. I don’t want to see the next generations lack of information they need to prepare for the future for both the sake of themself or this country. In order to avoid that, I want to make cartoon that can both entertain and educate the children. Instead the children spend most of their time watching mindless cartoon that do not provide learning in any form, they can spend most of their precious time watching televisions with moral and teachings. The children can learn how to be a good person since they’re kids. They can learn how to be honest, help other people, or even solve real life problems that usually occurs in their society. They have been implanted with good deeds so they do not do bad things and deviate from the rules in society. They also can learn about simple math and other stuff, like how many are the apples, how to say hello in English, addition and subtraction, or how rainbows are formed. This things will help the children to grow and develop mentally early on. This way, I can help young generation to continue the development of the nation.
There are many cartoon that not suitable for kids, for example Spongebob Squarepants and Crayon Shinchan. These cartoons usually contains things like fights and pornography. If the children watch these cartoons, they will imitate the bad deeds done in the film. I also want to help this country develop in the field of art and movies. I see many movies and cartoon that come from Indonesia are low quality, have poor performance, and rough made. I see many soap operas on the television and it is only talk about domestic abuse, the characters have chronic diseases, fraud, karma, and others things that I think don’t make any sense with the story. Because of that, I want to prove that Indonesia also can make good cartoon and movies that can be well-known around the world and can go international.
I heard that most of Indonesian people lack of information and knowledge. This is one of the factors that causes Indonesia to be difficult to compete with other countries. If this is allowed to continue, Indonesia will continue to lag behind other countries and Indonesia cannot survive the effects of globalisation that have begun to emerge.

Globalisation won’t go static. Instead globalisation is dynamic and will continue to grow over time. We also cannot avoid the effects of globalization because these effects are always around us. All we can do is continue to follow the effects of globalization that have spread throughout the world globally. Globalisation has affected things around us such as social, economic, cultural, and language. These things have been seen clearly in the form of information and communication technology has developed, the occurrence of international export and import trade, the existence of cultural acculturation, and others. For that, I help my country through visual communication media because most of Indonesian people tend to watch television and playing games rather than read books or newspapers. This way I can help improve this country to face the effect of globalisation in 10 or 20 years later in the future. In this globalization era, visual communication design is needed. Because the era of globalization has developed technology, so many are interested in using the technology.
