“What would you do in 10 or 20 more years to dealwith the global “GLOBALISATION”? by Davin S W

Globalisation is the process by which nations become increasingly integrated. This is occurring primarily due to advances in technology that have enabled people, goods, money, data and ideas to travel the world much faster than before and the reduction of trade and economic barriers, which has greatly increased trade between countries. In recent years, globalisation has become a hot topic that has been associated with multinational corporations,  global financial markets, the erosion of trade barriers.

In the era of globalisation, men are facing high tension of competition, not only competition among local businessman but also foreigners. Skill, creativity, and vision must be owned to compete and achieve best result. Thinking about 10 or 20 years to come, the world population is definitely incresing. In order to be able to survive or even be the winner, men will have to do their best, and perform extraordinarily well.

In 10 years to come i will be about 27 years old. In that period of course i will have to earn my own living. I have been dreaming of becoming a successful young businessman since i was a kid. Culinary is my obsession. In this millenial era, very few people would like to go to the kitchen to prepare food for their family. Eating out or buying ready cooked food is the only way one. For that reason i choose to be a culinary businessman. I imagine opening a restaurant serving various kinds of Indonesian traditional food. Besides that i want to combine the Indonesian food with other Asian country food, even with European and American cuisine, that will have the greatest taste with five stars quality. One more important thing is that i will involve health and nutrients in the food. Not only open the restaurant but also i want to produce food that is vaccum packed and frozen. So that people will find it efficient to have meals at home. Globalisation will of course affect my business. If i am not follow the development of globalisation i will be surely left behind.

I will make my future restaurant equipped with sophisticated high technology. So that my future restaurant will have more special quality compared with other restaurant and attract as many customers as possible. Customers will find easier and faster service. Order can be done through special application and delivered in no time, so that they don’t need to waste their time waiting. For customers who want to eat in, my future restaurant will provide many robot waiters to serve them. The robots i created will look exactly like human being, the will able to smile, to speak, and even can move the body gently. So that, the customers can feel the touch of human eventhough the ones who serve them are just robot. Then i will cooperate with young multi talented people to create many new things, new menu, and etc. That means creating job vacancies and the customers will not find it boring to have meal in my restaurant.

Being visionary is a must in the period of globalisation. It has been said before that globalisation is the process of interaction and integration between people world wide. I have a vision of having a restaurant that can make far away places become as near as finger touching. I imagine the walls of my restaurant are LCD screen that have some menus. Only by touching it, the wall will show the places we want to go and the moment that we want to experince. How fun it is, isn’t it ? If customers want to kow the proscess of making food, they can also see it in the LCD screen how the robots chef does his job. I will also spoil my customers by providing them with grand piano that can play by itself and the saxophone that can blow by itself. The uniqueness of my restaurant will attract lots of customers from any part of the world. To make them more efficient, i will build robotic parking lot. Customers do not need to park their cars by themselves. The robot will be ready to do it for them. Moreover the parking lot of my restaurant does not occupy large space. It is because the parking space is made storeyed underground.

Globalisation is on the way and will be continued in the future. It is the process that every body must go through. To go through it successfully, first we have to acknowledge technology then master it. Lastly we have to apply it in our business.  However technology is not the only one. Apart from that we have to have skill, creativity, and vision to develop our business. In this way, we can make our business develop competitively in the globalisation era.
